Following a career in industry is the drive behind my interest in rivers, ships and the coast. It is the associated landscapes, seascapes, and the variety of subject that attract me. Considerations such as character, light, and the pervading atmosphere are aspects that always present me with a challenge.

I have always painted and sketched and spent three years with the Open College of Art in the early 1990's.

In 2010 I was elected member of the Birmingham Watercolour Society and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 2014.

I have occasionally exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries London.

I work mainly in watercolour and sometimes oils and acrylics. My work is mostly representational, with occasional contemporary interpretations.

Such subjects may require research which is time consuming, as often the information may not be immediately suitable for artwork

I often use rough surfaced watercolour paper as this aids granulation and works effectively for me on seascapes, landscapes, townscapes, etc.
