Middle ground finish

Before completing the middle ground the buildings in the background were finished in subdued tones and washed over with a wet brush to take the edge of things. The left side buildings were catching full sun and those in the centre were kept subdued to preserve the feeling of distance. The buildings at the right hand end were also in full sun so to preserve distance these and those in the centre were also washed over with a wet brush to take the edges off and to avoid causing too much distraction with the stronger foreground.
