Using the sketch the first thing to decide was where to begin. The masts, ropes and features of the boats dictated it would be best to begin with the white boat as this is the largest area of white in the picture. Starting with the background and working towards the main centre of interest is difficult because of the need to leave light areas for the masts etc.
