Next was to put in middle ground and foreground detail gradually using stronger tones. I decided the foreground would be best with one prominent item to act as a strong focal point rather than my original idea. This provides a strong foreground vertical which works well with the horizontal feeling of the far distance. The water surface was simply put in using wet on wet washes and allowing things to dry without too much touching with the brush. A thin wash of blue was given to the background field to push it further back.
